2v2 Random Pairs Team Race

Regatta Report:

2v2 Random Pairs Team Race - On Saturday 12 flights were completed, with each boat sailing 11 races.  The race course was set in Mackerel Cove off the south side of Jamestown, Rhode Island.  The wind was light to moderate at times from the south at 5-12 knots.  A thick fog broke on occasion to let bight sunshine through the dense clouds.

The results were close!  Half of the competitors were within one win of each other after the 12th round of racing. In the end two boats shared the 2009 2v2 title.  Congratulations to JM Modisette/Mora O'Mally and Colin Merrick/Kelly Stannard.

Sunday shifted gears to 3v3 Team Racing.  Teams were assigned by the race committee based on results from the 2v2 racing.  The race course was located mere feet off of the sea wall at Fort Adams, making for great spectating from tourists and race fans alike.  The RC was able to finish two round robins and a final four round robin!  The race committee was also able to mix things up with downwind starts and the 'U' Race course.

Pictures of the event are available here and on

Thank you to our Race Committee Reid Van Gorder and his volunteers!
